Hi Seblod Community,

i am really curious about the new "Reorder by drag-and-drop capability" which came with Version 3.8. Any idea how to do this? :D

Kind regards

Hi Neco,

You should deploy a fresh install of SEBLOD 3.8.x and then have a try with both Article Manager and Category Manager.

On the front-end, first re-order by Ordering Asc, and then you'll see the feature. And you can check the various setup from the "List" view on the Search Types.

Regards,
Saba.

Salut Saba, I might be lost in translation... but I have the same question. The blog article mentioned new features like:

  • Drag & Drop
  • Front-end managers

Sorry, but I don't see anything in those regards?! Where are those managers? I guess, It must be special lists and templates. How do I get them? I thought I know my way around in Seblod, maybe not.

Hello,

  • Front-end managers

That's only available for new installations.

And from there you'll see how to setup the drag-and-drop (even on existing/updates sites)

Saba

But why is this!? No way to get this feature on an updated site!?

Hi,

Front-end managers IS NOT a feature. That's only 3 pre-maid search types. And yes they are only available in install.sql. Feel free to create them on existing sites if needed.

Drag-and-drop IS a feature, and it's available for all websites (update or install)... but in order to know how it's working you can install a fresh SEBLOD on another website as an example, and replicate on your existing website if needed.

Hi Saba

thanks a lot for your help and sorry for my late response. It seems to work fine, but what does the Drag-And-Drop really do (beside dragging and dropping :D) ? I guess it is not changing the Joomla Ordering, right?

best regards

neco

@pixelneco It does! It is the same "ordering" property like you have in J! backend.

Partly agree. Maybe the wrong wording. But you know what I mean: It is strange to read it in the blog article, and you can't find it in your updated site. A small hint or advice would be useful.

Feel free to create them on existing sites if needed.

What is best practice? Export and import each respective App folder? Or better reduce exported elements in App folders -> Options ?
