Here is my set up... Am I doing this the wrong way ( or a bad way? )
I have a menu item (Lesson Files) which points to a List and Search type
Url is [sitename]/lesson-files/
The listed articles link to the content view.
Url is [sitename]/lesson-files/article-name
All seems good.
I am having a problem with another extension and urls and so am wondering if there is a different way I should be doing it, or if I have missed something

This is the most common way to have search-type/article structure, but you ofcourse can explore other routing options if some of those will better suit you.

I'm trying to think if there is anything I have done within Seblod that could be making the other component experience problems.
Beyond what I descried above, I haven't done much else
Not sure I follow you - are links made by seblod leading to the other component or what the problem is? This should not be possbil as first level of routing where request is routed to appropriate extension is done by joomla, after that point there is each component on its own, so any interference should not be possible.

I think I will have to o a vanilla site, load the extension, test it, load seblod, and test slowly and thoroughly that way.
It is to do with auto-posting Articles to Facebook, and accessing Joomla via an app.
I will mark this post as PAUSED, after which I will post any cries for help :)
