Hi

Since seblod contents are extended Joomla articles, com_finder naturally finds any seblod content without any additional work.
However the search results URLs that are generated by the com_finder are wrong if your content doesn't have a direct link to it since Joomla only know joomla native menu items and ignores Seblod lists.

Did anybody write a com_finder plugin that takes into account the seblod list menu items ?

I know the joomla smart search is not the ideal solution for bigger sites but for most small customers using third party search engine is out of question.
Since Octopoos did a great job in the content types by allowing the indexation of the into / content views I guess we could finish the job by adding the right url generation in the smart search results.

What is your opinion please ?
thanks

Dont use finder.
Use the search and list options to focus your search results.

It does not make sense to use finder, and finder tends to be a database hogger.

hello

you are right but with the seblod search & list functions there are a few problems to solve:
  • how do you sort the results by relevance ? For example if you use the "search generic" field how do you first show the results with all the matches, then with less matches ?
  • unless you developp a specific link plugin there is no easy way to put a link on the result to the content page keeing the right menu item! This is why at Pulsar we developped a CCK menu link plugin that allows to specify to which menu item we must be redirected
  • there is no hilight feature on the result (but this is not that hard to add in JS)

Is there nobody here knowing how to add relevance sorting with the "search generic" field ?

Thankc

I see this has been an issue for quite some time.

Did you ever manage to make the Seblod search more relevant, pulsarinformatique?

Thanks. But this plugin dosn't affect search fields, does it?

What I'm trying to do is basically to do a search, and then order the items accordingly:

if keyword(s) is in field a = relevance 1
if keyword(s) is in field b = relevance 0,7
if keyword(s) is in field c = relevance 0,5

And then, the score will arrange the search results more correctly. Kind of like Joomla's own smart search system.

But no matter what I do I will not get the search to get more relevant.

No this is just a way to bypass the joomla finder and make our own search function. However this is still a seblod list without pre indexing and relevance ordering
