Is there a way to add items to a list WITHOUT creating articles for those items.
I would like logged in users to be able to add themselves to a list of people attending events without the need to create an article for each person attending. Seems like a simple idea but I cant work out how to do it using Seblod.

Any help is very much appreciated

Hi MarcT,

To my knowledge, this can't be done. You must create a new article for the results to show in a search; that is how SEBLOD works.

Why don't you want to have a new article for each person? You could just have a content type with the user id and the event id and when someone submits the form it associates them with the event they are currently viewing.

Hi,
James, maybe I'm missing something but it seems to me that it's possible to create a "free" content type and create a site and list form to populate that content type. You will need to create a custom table for your content.
The only problem with that is that you don't have access to free content type in the admin GUI unless you customize some menus.
I also have a problem with displaying the content of theses lists in a module in forms (it does work on content though).

Hi James (thanks for your videos by the way, without them i would have given up on Seblod very early on).
The reason i dont want lots of articles is because there could be 200+ people attending each event with many events listed. It wont be long before im bogged down with thousands of irrelevant articles. I suppose i could set a publish down date so i can delete them en mass.

As nycxav said, i have created a free content form but so far i keep getting a "Oop's, we have a 1103 Incorrect table name '' SQL=SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM ``" when i try to submit the form which i guess is because I need to create a custom table manually. Im keen to know nycxav since its a Seblod form im using to post this information how do you control which table the form posts to?

Thank you both for your input

Hi Marc,
You need indeed to create your table manually and you need to create your fields with the following storage options :
"Custom", "Free", "Your Column Name", "Your Table Name",

Cheers Xav, I realised soon after I asked 'how to set where the form posts to' how foolish a question it was. I'll put it down to tiredness ;0).
I wasnt expecting such a speedy reply from the Seblod forum.
Thanks again

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately answers don't always come fast indeed.
I have a few questions here that don't attract a lot of viewers...
Or maybe they scare them away?
