All of a sudden I cannot download any apps.  I get the error "You are not allowed access to this file."  I initially had issues with the app download, but about a year ago SEBLOD issued a fix to the issue and it was working.  Now it's not.  How do I fix this?

Does anyone have a solution to this issue?  It's been months and no one has answered.

Hello!

I think you should contact the team through the Contact us form, they do not check this forum for issues like these, there should be some problem with your account data, I guess.

Stay well,

R.

Your problem may be related to Aceeba Backup. Check the folder paths in the General site settings

I don't have Akeeba on any of the websites.

Have you checked the paths to your site's service folders?

I have to have a subscription to download apps from my website?  Since when did this happen?

This link does not say anything about having to have a subscription to download our own applications https://www.seblod.com/resources/manuals/building-my-first-app/exporting-your-app

Hi!

Sounds like there is confusion with the Apps in the SEBLOD store vs the Apps that you create and then download to install on another site.

You do not need a subscription for downloading your own Apps.

Is the problem on a local or hosted site?

I have had this same issue on my local setups.  But the App.Zip file still gets created and can be found the tmp folder so I just ignore the message.  If this is not on a local machine, then it usually is because a user rights issue.

You say that it was all of a sudden.  So there must have been an update of some kind?   If it wasn't you, then perhaps the host?

If its on a server, then did the host make an update and change the PHP settings?

What version of Joomla/Seblod/PHP?

The problem has been going on for over 7 months and on multiple websites I design and manage on that are hosted.  It was all of a sudden MONTHS ago when I first wrote the message, not latesly.  It's not a user right's issue as I have complete control and have made sure it's not a user rights issue.  I am the host and no changes were made to the host system at the time or any major changes recently.  My website are on the latest version of Joomla, SEBLOD on those sites are currently 3.19 and I will be updating them to 3.20 in the next couple of days.  PHP was 7.2 as SEBLOD was having major issues on 7.3, but a couple of weeks ago I updated them to 7.3 since 7.2 is not supported any longer.  But remember, this issue has been going on for MONTHS now.  Also, I do not have Akeeba back up on any of those sites, so that is not the issue.  And, I have looked in all the tmp folders - and no SEBLOD files.

Thanks for replying rpoy.  I appreciate you trying to help.

I've experienced something like that a long time ago, but I don't use that functionality anymore so I cannot be helpful.

Have you tried copying the whole site into your localhost and doing the procedure from there?

PS:Hello Rpoy! Such a pleasure to see you're still here after so many years :)

It appears you have a unique setup since nobody else has the same issue. So the question is what is different. Have you looked through the log files to see if there are any details that could shed some light on the error?
If the logs don't tell you anything helpful, then I would install it on a different server like Romyo suggested - I would use a hosted server though.
Then if it works on the other sever, you can assume that its a server setting/path setting on your servers. That's what it seems like to me. But if you are in control of the servers, and you didn't make any updates, then I'm not sure what what to think. In general, programs just don't break - unless maybe its Microsoft ;)

Something must have changed somewhere - the question is what. How often do you export SEBLOD apps? Is it possible you updated Joomla somewhere in between you noticing the problem or do you export Apps between updates?

In my development environment, I have a Joomla setup which has the latest versions of Joomla, SEBLOD and Akeeba backup as a starting point. I open it and run updates when they are available.  But I ran into an issue a couple of versions ago where I couldn't install or had problems with installing the SEBLOD importer app. Something got whacked somewhere in the database, so I ended up starting over with a new version of Joomla and reinstalled all other components then everything worked out fine. So maybe in your environment things worked fine with the initial install but then after there are upgrades things become less stable.

Is there a way to test your older backups?  I live and die by Akeeba - I backup constantly before and after updates, and keep notes of all of the plugin versions in the back up notes... I find it very handy.

P.S. Hi to you too Romyo!  Good to see you! :)
