usually the problem is in file extension, if it is not already there you need to add it to the list in media tab of component options.

Thanks for the response. 

The extension is MP3 and already exists.

For now I solved the problem with a wysiwyg field and the JCE editor with a media button to upload audio and videos.

if your extension is MP3 this will not match default mp3 (lowercase), you would need to add MP3 to the list. It is also possible you need to add file extensions to some other security list e.g. on joomla level when using some security extension like admin tools pro or even on server level on some setups.
