What kind of error do you get? If your form&content type that you use to import data, contains same fieldX as form that you exported from it should work (e.g. on the same installation). When moving data betweens Seblod installations there migth be a problem as you also need to have the same fild that is called by field x present on both installations.

Thanks for your response Klas

I am doing some research on these plugins to identify if it suits to our requirement. So I have only installed the Importer (Free) not the Exporter (Paid).  From your online demo of Exporter i downloaded the csv sample and changing that i am creating the custom cck articles.

Now problem i am facing is:

I have create custom cck form with text, simple, fieldx, groupx etc fields. I am able to show values of other fields but not sure how to do it for groupx and fieldx fields using csv importer.

My Sample CSV format:

city;country;population;title;alias;publish_down;publish_u;catid

Brasilia;19;2.563;A-6;a-6;2016-11-16 05:56:00;2016-11-20 05:56:00;8

So if you could provide any example how to keep fieldx and groupx in csv file that will be great help!

You are not able to create fieldx data manually, it uses special syntax to store data form multiple child fields in single entry, also I'm not even sure impoter can handle it as also child fields should be present on the system to work

Thanks, So just quick questions

a) Are we able to Import/Export articles which contains fieldX and GroupX  field?

b) if Yes what are the steps i need to follow?

Also I see this https://www.seblod.com/resources/tracker/3209  open feature request posted 3 years back. So just to make sure its implemented in latest version ?

1) You can export and import field/groupX data as with any other field.

2) You will need to have any field that is called by FieldX or content type with all fields in case of groupX present on the target installation with exactly the same names as on the source installation.
Easiest way to do this is to place all involved content types and their fields in an app and export/import it.

Thanks Klas for your quick response

I am going through the tutorial you mentioned and will get back to you if having any issues.

The tutorial is talking about app folders. Our requirement is to import/export the ARTICLES having the FieldX and GroupX data added by the webmasters. So let's say we have 50 articles added using a particular CCK Content type which has FieldX and GroupX fields. When we select them and click on a button to export, the exported csv file should have all the information as fed by the webmasters including the data being fed in the FieldX and GroupX.

Similarly, if we want to import 10 such articles from a CSV file in which the rows have been manually fed by a webmaster, we want to be able to do that using Seblod importer.

Are these possible in both Seblod importer and exporter?

As I wrote in my previous answer, beside articles that are handled by importer/exporter, you will also need to export/import app for field/groupX to work after the import.

Hi Klas, I have recently bought the Exporter add on hoping that I would be able to export the articles and all its data into csv but the exported CSV file only having the count of the number of times I fed the groupX fields in the articles.  Please let me know how the each value of the GroupX or FieldX fields can be exported without loosing information as fed in the articles.

Please note that my purpose is to export, edit and import back.  Or create a CSV file manually by feeding the information in Excel rather than in Joomla admin and import everything into the Joomla CMS.

Here is the content in the file exported:

title,alias,introtext,state,catid,created,created_by,created_by_alias,modified,modified_by,

publish_up,publish_down,images,urls,attribs,version,ordering,metakey,metadesc,

access,hits,metadata,featured,language,xreference,groupx_test_1

"This is Article title",this-is-article-title,,1,11,"2016-11-22 11:33:24",951,,"2016-11-22 11:58:25",951,"2016-11-22 11:30:00","2016-11-30 11:30:00",{},{},{},4,1,,,1,0,{},0,*,,1

"This is Article title 2",this-is-article-title-2,,1,11,"0000-00-00 00:00:00",951,,"2016-11-22 12:06:04",951,"2016-11-22 12:05:00","2016-12-01 12:05:00",{},{},{},3,2,,,1,0,{},0,*,,2

Hi,

your example does not have a group field. I just tried and fieldX and GroupX export works correctly for me, this is an example:

  id
  title
  groupx_x_test

  261
  2016-11-22-13-58-37
  <br />::groupx_x_test::2::/groupx_x_test::<br /><br
  />::cck_groupx_x_test::include_for_groupx_test::/cck_groupx_x_test::<br
  />::art_title|0|groupx_x_test::gropx title
  1::/art_title|0|groupx_x_test::<br />::group_x_numeric|0|groupx_x_test::3::/group_x_numeric|0|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::group_x_field_with_storage|0|groupx_x_test::asdasdasdsd::/group_x_field_with_storage|0|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::my_button|0|groupx_x_test::::/my_button|0|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::idforviewg|0|groupx_x_test::99::/idforviewg|0|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::cckend_groupx_x_test::::/cckend_groupx_x_test::<br
  />::cck_groupx_x_test::include_for_groupx_test::/cck_groupx_x_test::<br
  />::art_title|1|groupx_x_test::gropx title 2::/art_title|1|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::group_x_numeric|1|groupx_x_test::::/group_x_numeric|1|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::group_x_field_with_storage|1|groupx_x_test::dsadsad
  sdas::/group_x_field_with_storage|1|groupx_x_test::<br />::my_button|1|groupx_x_test::::/my_button|1|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::idforviewg|1|groupx_x_test::77::/idforviewg|1|groupx_x_test::<br
  />::cckend_groupx_x_test::::/cckend_groupx_x_test::<br />

Please note that you need to export parent content type, not content type included in GroupX. Also see this tutorials to correctly set FieldX and GroupX storages

Hi, Thanks for the quick response. I had the groupX field, for some reason the longer sentences was not visible in the forum(though it was available in edit form). I've just edited my previous  comment so that all the columns of CSV file are visible now.

I am posting below the content of another exported CSV file containing the group x field ( this time I just exported  selected fields to keep easy to read here). Please notice the last field and their value which is just count rather than data.

title,alias,introtext,groupx_test_1

"This is Article title",this-is-article-title,,1

"This is Article title 2",this-is-article-title-2,,2

"This is Article title 3",this-is-article-title-3,,1

"This is Article title 4",this-is-article-title-4,,2

If you can please provide  me your exported CSV file containing the articles having the data entered into the GroupX fields.  I want to see how the repeating fields appear in the MS Excel when we open the CSV file.

You can see repeating fields data in my previous post - in the first block there are field names ( id, title, groupx_x_test) and in the second their data, so groupX data is from 3-rd line of the second block to the end. Seblod uses special format to store all data in the single database field in the parent.

Thanks. I had storage field as default 'introtext'. Now I created the GroupX field and Child Content Types as mentioned in in https://www.seblod.com/resources/extensions/plug-ins/group-x-field

I created Child Content Type, GroupX field having storage field name as suggested in the documentation above.

So I am able to export in the same way like you have posted above.

Now the concern is, The value of entire groupX field is dumped into one field of the CSV which cannot be easily read and updated by human.

We want to use the Seblod importing/exporting feature for Web Masters and other non Dev teams so that they can feed data in the Excel columns.

Is there a way to export in such a way that the all the data of GroupX fields are displayed in their own rows and column. Perhaps another CSV file which is having a relationship with the Primary CSV. So Webmaser can first upload the primary CSV file and then the secondary CSV file can just update the GroupX or field X values. OR any other way to let the Web Masters easily update the values manually.

Hi,

sorry there is no such way as data is stored in such format in database.

Ok, another question:  is there a way to export selected number of articles rather than all articles which are there under a particular Content Type.

If not, is there a way not to include the unpublished articles?

Let's say we've 2000 articles under a Content Type but my Web Master wants to just export 50 of them and do some manual update and import it back. Would he/she be able to just export 50 of 2000?
