I've been trying to use a Type=JForm-User field to work on the site form for my content type. But I could not get it to work because of permissions. If I’m signed in the backend at the time I’m using the site form it will work, but if I’m only signed in the front end it does not - it redirects to the backend login page.  I tried playing around with permissions until I learned that the backend uses a completely different session.

I assume, since this field uses backend code, it was never meant to be used in a site form.

Is that correct?  If it is then is there any way to select a user on a site form?
