Hi.

You have three behavior in setting of tabs field:

1. Start - for first panel

2. Panel - for all panels exept first

3. End - closting tab tag, put it after all fields in last panel.

For example you want to have tree tabs One Two Three

You have to create four tabs fields.

One ( Start behavior )

put some fields between it

Two ( panel behavior )

put some fields between it

Three ( panel behavior )

put some fields between it

End ( end behavior )

Tabs not working for me.  Tried what you recommended, tried all possible combinations of "start", pane, "end"...no tabs or tab names appear in content page.  How does the "group Identfier" seeting work? How important is it? Can anyone share with me an actual example where the tabs are working?

All tabs for that content type must have the same group identifier.  You can name it whatever you like. I'm not sure exactly what the "final" is for. I just use the start and panel and works perfectly.

Hi Axel...

Your instructions were simple and clear.  Thank you very much!  But the tabs are still not working...not even visible for me in the site form or in the content.  What am I missing?  Is it possible that it could be due to some default or global setting somewhere else or my template?

Please note that I am not an expert in webdesign but I know the basics and this pretty straight.  And I have done just as you said. Where am I going wrong?

Hello zeeb,

my english is very very bad - excuse me this, please.

You must in the fieldstype "Tab" in the "Behavoir" select "Start", "Panel" or "End" and then make the screenshot in the top post.

Here a screenshot from the fieldtype "Tab".

I hope, this help you.

Sorry: you must begin with "Start" and end with "End", between so many "Panel" as you like

Hi lloyd,

"I'm not sure exactly what the "final" is for. I just use the start and panel and works perfectly."

Take two Tabs - also first "Start, Panel, End" and second Tabs with "Start, Panel and End". When you no "End" in the first Tab-Row, then the second Tab no view, respectively is the second Tab-Row view, when you open the last Tab in the first-row. But only when the second-Tabs a another Group Identifier as the first-Tabs. No Group Identifier and all Tabs in the one row.

English is a difficult language ;)

Hello Axel,

I have done exactly as you said...I have done it so many times.....still not working.  Please think of other possible reasons. May be some other reasons such as template....configuration....or permission...I just don't know.

Dear Axel

I have done it as you said; which is START, PANEL, PANEL, END. Each tab has a label (except Tab 4) and the identifier is xyz.

Tab 1 (Start) - Group Identifier  xyz;

Tab 2 (Panel) - Group Identifier  xyz,

Tab 3 (Panel) - Group Identifier xyz,  and

Tab 4 (End) - Group Identifier xyz.

This is pretty simple.   I have even tried it without Tab 4, just like James Morrell shows it in Youtube. But it just doesn't seem to work for me.  Actually, I cannot see the tabs in the form or in the content. What is the problem? Template? Configuration? What?  Please...please somebody think of some other issue.

Thank you

I think the tab field is to be used with joomla 3 because use bootstrap. Would not that be the problem?

Axel,

Could the reason be what Marco is saying? Please confirm. I am inclined to think his way because that is the only thing I cannot do due to restrictions on my host's servers.

Marc,

Thanks for the insight and I hope you are right.  I would like to find out the problem, and, if my host does not allow me to upgrade to Joomla 3.0, I may change a host.

Marc,

I think you were right! I tested the tabs functionality with Joomla 3.0 and ....it worked! Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. And thank you to all the Seblod members who shared their expertise. I am a novice trying to launch a website and I am so thrilled with what Seblod can actually do for me. I am sure I will share my website and open it for comments before I make it live.

Thanks again

Zeeb

Could somebody please advise me how to make the tabs work in Joomla 2.5? I tested in Joomla 3 and it works there but I need to make it work in Joomla 2.5. I'm not a skilled developer so a step by step guide would be much appreciated.

Thanks is advance.

Hint:

The Group Identifier is useful, wenn you wonna use more than Tab-Group on one site. Than the "tab-parts" know to which tab group they belong to. If you dont set a Group Identifier all end ab in one Tab-Group. This is ok by one Tab-Group.
