The thumbnails generation that SEBLOD offers is a step ahead from what the standard joomla media manager offered but we are constantly facing customers complaints about the lack of control on the thumbnails generation.
the 7 methods that are proposed are great but there are at least two missing ones:
1- the ability to manually crop / resize the image as we have in the social networks interfaces: this is a must every customers are asking for
2- the possibility to add margins on top/bottom or left/right sides to avoid a distorted image
Do you share these requests ? Does someone have sort of 'advanced' image transfert plugin with these features ?

Yep, here's another thing. Modern cameras use orientation tag in EXIF metadata, which - as far as I know - is ignored by SEBLOD. So if an image is presented in my image editors in vertical position, it is actually saved in horizontal orientation and then rotated thanks to that EXIF tag. Alas, SEBLOD ignores it and such 'vertical' image after uploading is... well... pretty much horizontal.
So I guess there are only two ways to solve this:
1) 'teach' SEBLOD to respect that orientation tag,
2) add 'rotate' control to image upload plugin.

Like Cyril know now there will be in few time the Crop Upload Image plugin and the multi-upload plugin. Theses plugins are done since a long time but require some time to be mature.
About margin, we advise to manage this by CSS and not by given the hand to the user. If it's a specific image field you can add other field to manage some other parameters such as the margin.
We will think about rotate option.
The Exif meta-data topic is another topic. It requires to have "enable-exif" option in your PHP which often not the case. Need to speak about IPTC meta-data too. It's more easy to get IPTC meta-data because IPTC functions are included natively in PHP. Very few people need these features we don't know currently if it makes sense to add these feature by a generic way.
